More from Baylands in Palo Alto -

Avocet with 4 chicks, 12 hours old.
The guy next to me got a shot of mom picking shell fragments off one of their butts yesterday. I love the little tiny WINGS.

NIce capture with a super low angle. . . the extra legs make for some confusion - but it makes me smile!

Gee Sandy, are you specializing in avian nursery photos, another great example. :toast: Spot on exposure on what appears to be challenging light. :toast:

A very interesting family portrait Sandy. I like the natural setting, all those legs and the way the adult accomodates the chicks by squatting down.

Lovely family portrait Sandy "the guy next to me........" Things are very different aren't they. I don't think I've ever met another photographer in the field except for people I've gone out with in over 25 years.

cheers

Sandy, your shots of the babies is creating a lot of fun in our household. Keep them coming. We spent a lot of time counting legs and at first we could only come up with three babies. This image was a fun puzzle as well as a great image.

Harry

Oh yes, the specs are right on.

Rob - I think you have a little more space in Australia!
I usually prefer to be out by myself - it's often my only respite from craziness - but in well-known places like Baylands, lots of people are eagerly awaiting the hatchlings every year.I was surprised there were only 3 of us, actually - but it was a weekday.

It's a 90-min drive for me, but I hope I'll be back in a couple days.
These guys will be 3x the present size, but hopefully a few new sets will have been hatched.
