Cockatiels

There were huge flocks of Cockatiels taking advantage of the abundant seed available at Sturt National Park in north western NSW. I'd like your opinion on the crop. This is a vertical crop from the horizontal. I've included the horizontal as the larger image.

Nice sharpness and eye contact on both birds Rob. I prefer the composition in the 720 pixel version (with the OOF bird removed) though I might consider giving the birds a bit more room on the right to fly in to. .

Cool to see these wild birds in flight - I had two cockatiels as pets growing up and I guess that was the start of my love for birds! Are they pets in Australia as well?

I can see why you prefer the vertical comp with the OOF bird out. I will agree, but it is too bad you could not have got the third bird sharper as IMHO the horizontal version would be the better IMHO. Thanks for sharing.

Rob, My favorite bird because I had one back in the late 70s through the 80s. I like the vertical crop because it allows you to obtain a larger image of the birds and still include both. I am sure a landscape format would not allow that. I like the different wing positions also. Thanks very much for posting. Wish we had some of these in the wild here.

The vertical crop looks way better to me and I also like the idea of a little more room in front of the birds. Nice job getting both birds in focus and that is a very nice light blue background, well done.

Really nice getting both birds Rob. I too like the vertical comp, but maybe a bit more on the right.

Great capture, Rob. I agree that I'd like to see more room on the right.

nicely timed here! I too prefer the vertical crop and can see it working well with some more space added on the RHS

Getting them both in focus with that combo at 7.1 is a real feat. Well done, Rob. I like the effect of the vertical best, and go with a bit more space on the right.

Rob,
When I first saw this I thought it was a water shot involving a reflection. WOW....@ f/4 you got both birds sharp. I much prefer the 720 Pixel image. Is one a female and one a male? Great image Rob. :toast:
