Looks like claws coming to grab you. A different POV but interesting if not intimidating.

Interesting plant, it looks Freddy Krugger fingers from the movie Nightmare On Elm Street.

Interesting subject Lucy. This one is a little chaotic for my tastes but in looking at it, I don't know how you would have subdued it. I think your dof decision is good but seems to me this is just a very difficult subject to photograph.

Lucy, this may not be something you want to do or even believe in doing, but I think if you wanted to spend some time doing some selective processing on this image you could get some pretty cool results and make the "fingers" really stand out.

Interesting subject and looks like a difficult one as well. I like the implied movement in the shape of the "fingers" and the DOF works for me. Maybe a bit too much chaos for my taste...maybe a crop on the RHS would help, not much going on there.

Lucy: Wonder how these got their name? Here's a crop idea that I think gives more emphasis to the horns. Something that really helps this kind of subject in the field is the use of a polarizer to tame some of the glare off the leaves. Give it a try if you can revisit. >=))>

Thank you everyone for the good suggestions. Bill I like your crop. And Barbara I may play with it a bit to see if I can somehow or other tone down the background. It's an unusual subject and I'll try to give it a whirl.
