Ragwort wild flowers

I took this picture on a recent walk through the fields and woods behind my house. From what I can tell in my wildflower book this is a Hawkweed. (Thanks all, it's a ragwort)

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/11 for 1/4 sec. ISO 100.

I would perhaps go with Ragwort as the ID but I am not 100% sure  . Great grouping and excellent isolation, Carolyn.

Hey Carolyn, I like how the little flowers circle the open flower.

Beautiful arrangement Carolyn. The yellow in the middle is a bit burn-out on my monitor.

Excellent subject separation and placement in the frame. It's a fine supporting bg as well. I'd probably like a bit more dof but of course that starts to eat up the bg. It's a good looking image for my tastes as posted and also the first one of these I recall seeing.

You may be right, Ram. In looking further in my limited little wildflower book, I came across Groundsels, that include Ragworts. It does look quite similar. I will have to get a more detailed wildflower book.

It definitely looks like a variety of ragwort (also knows as groundsel), either prairie or golden ragwort. Nice capture of this lovely flower Carolyn.

Carolyn:
Very nice bundle and nice bg separation. I took some of these recently and did not know what they were called and so now I know. One of the image I took had a spider sitting in the middle waiting for some pollinator to land.

Very nice. I looks like the buds are dancing around the maypole of the open flower. My recommendation for a wildflower guide for the Eastern USA is Newcomb's Wildflower Guide. If you have flowers and leaves you can ID just about any wildflower east of the MIssouri.
