I was driving through farm country, eastern Maryland to my daughter's college graduation from the University of Salisbury last week. There is wonderful, if beautifully subtle scenery down there and I was struck my the many possibilities. I managed a few hours out alone to play with the camera after the graduation!

This image is an example of the continuing refinement of a processing technique that will soon be presented in public for the first time in a few weeks. I hope you like it.

I like the overall view Jim especially te forming clouds and insignificance of the farm structure. A personal preference, and not a critique, I tend to like full clarity of color or B&W..... but that is me. I am sure many others will love this.

This is really very arresting, the billowing clouds just flatten the little building. Wonderful!! Unlike Eva, (who I admire and respect) i REALLY like treatments in man and nature photography. They add a dimention that is just so pleasant and expressive to the photo, especially the building but also the natural elements. In fact, in my opinion, M&N photos actually need to be taken past actual factual natural color in order to reach thier best potential. I havent been around much but I will be checking to see what you say further about your processing. Nice photograph, Jim. You dont know me from a hole in the ground but I do post here every once in a blue moon. Kat

Kat,

You actually nailed the direction I was trying to with this image. My work over the last year or so has been drifting from pure representational photography towards very expressive treatments. The idea is to dig down into the emotiona substrate I see in the scene and then work to best accentuate those aspects. The processing is an ongoing project of mine and the current iteration involves many subtle steps and transparent layers. It is of particular importance to me that the image remain clearly photographic and representational of a real place and scene. It requires a bit of balance to achieve both ends.
