Hopefully everyone isn't sick of all these Columbia River Gorge images! Here is another one from last week. The greens and yellows at this waterfall were beautiful, although a bit tough to process in PS. All C&C are appreciated. Please view large.

I like the balance between the tree and waterfall Scott. It would be nice to see a more direct line in the stream leading up to the falls. While the exposure of the water looks good for detail, I feel as though there could be more interest in the foreground with a slightly longer exposure (not for the mini cascades though) to create more lines and drama. The colors looks spot on!

Thanks for the comments Justin. I like your suggestion about a longer exposure for parts the foreground water. I've got a few other images with longer exposure times which I will try to blend into the foreground water. I was hoping to have more of a line of sight between the foreground and background as well, but couldn't get it from this spot.

That looks sweet Scott!! Great details and exposure. I guess I'm left-eye dominant or just from reading, why am I so used to seeing thing going from left to right, instead of the flow in this case coming from the right--I know, just my weird eyes! lol, nice capture.

Nicely balanced composition. And of course, the Columbia Gorge greens. Personally, I think that water exposures like this, in the 1/4 to 1/2 sec range, tend to capture the energy of the water flow best without too much smoothing, but I suppose its all about what you are intending to convey.

Nice shot from the gorge Scott, I like the dappled sunlight hitting the greens. I also think a slightly longer SS might have helped to fill that empty space in the LRHC. Definitely must view the large version to appreciate, nice work.

How do you like your Nikkor 12-24? I am in the market for an extremely wide angle, not sure if I want to spend the $$$ on the 14-24 and was considering the cheaper alternatives, I also shoot DX format.

The only think I'm sick of is that I live 600 miles away from this spectacle. Gorgeous shot and it works very well. I like the composition and find it very well balanced. The shutter speed works well for me. I can see what Justin is saying about "lines and drama" and agree that you may have been able to achieve a very nice effect with the foreground water with a longer exposure. But while that would have been different it may not necessary have been better (depending on your tastes), as this is very fine indeed.

This is really sweet Scott. Excellent composition and execution. Also love the saturated greens. Nice work on the blend too. Killer image. I read Justin's comment with interest because I was thinking just the opposite  . I would actually like to see the shutter speed just a tad slower to reduce the smoothing. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

The foreground feels a bit jumbled for me but the processing seems spot on.

Scott,

I think this is absolutely gorgeous. Terrific work with the capture and processing. I very much like the composition. The elements are all very nicely balanced and this scene just feels comfortable - if that makes any sense. Great color and the saturation looks spot on too.

The only small critique I have is that I feel the upper middle is kind of a dead area, BUT the arrangement of everything else and just the beauty of it all trumps that quite easily. I'm lovin' this image from the Gorge area.

Zack - the 12-24 is a great lens for DX. It's built solidly, so it's good for landscape work. I probably wouldn't buy the 14-24 unless you are going to upgrade to the FX format, since this lens would only be 21-36mm equivalent on DX. Another option if you want to go even wider is the 10-24 DX. I'm planning on renting one of these at some point to try it out. The build on the 10-24 doesn't seem as robust at the 12-24, but it would be nice to have those extra 2mm on the wide end.

This is too pretty to make anyone sick, Scott! Well composed and it
looks like the exposure is right on. I also agree with Justin's comment
about the balance between the tree and the waterfall.

You folks out west may get sick of these images, but this easterner does not. I love the lush spring greens along with your POV and choice of SS. Very beautifully done, Scott.

Excellent work as usual, Scott. Nothing to critique here as the composition, technique, and processing are all magnificent. The large version really pulls me into the scene and makes me want to linger.

Hi Scott. Lovely picture. One of these days I am going to make it out there to shoot these scenes.

I like the exposure length you used on the water here. I think it shows the movement well and if you went too much longer it would start getting too soft and cloudy.

I have the 10-24mm that I use on my D7000. I love the extra angle you can get and the lense is quite sharp. It is not built as rugged as some of the better lenses though. We'll see how long it lasts.

Your processing challenges are not apparent here, Scott! This looks amazing to me. I might crop a tiny bit more off the top??? Beautifull!

Fantastic color Scott. I also like the light on the rocks and leaves. The water motion looks just right to me.

Wow Scott, this didn't grab me as a thumbnail. At full size though, it's lusciousness!! (Is that a word?)
