Liechtensteinklamm

Finally I found some time to get out again after all the moving and packing.
Within two days I visited seven gorges here in Austria - six of them were new to me and each of them had their little surprises for me. All in all they are amongst the most beautiful in Austria and I will visit them again when I'm in that area.
The "Liechtensteinklamm" here is considered the most beautiful gorge of Austria - each year over 100.000 people come to see this lovely gorge. I was expecting much and was not overwhelmed to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it's an impressive place but not the best thing for photographers. As the canyon is very steep and narrow you have to stay on the bridges almost all of the time which limits your compositional flexibility and you almost always have the bridges themselves in the shot. This here is a great example. I was already on the other side of the railing on a little rock and the camera was over the edge as much as possible (the center of gravity of the tripod was very questionable). I took one shot without the bridge but the composition is out of balance like that so I had to get the bridge in there and this is as good as I got it. It definitely gives you an idea about the place and its accessibility. I hope you like it anyway.

Canon 5DMII, Zeiss Vs 35-70mm.

Thanks for looking at this shot and maybe leaving a comment. I've uploaded a LARGER version if you want to see a bit more details.

This is a pretty strong gorge shot of yours. You have many, naturally not all are "significant" but this on here is - at least for me. Light is very interesting and the intruding rock at the top creates an imposing atmosphere without being distracting. Technically this is stunning too. Can't help it but I am reminded of our Mostnica adventures...

The light, detail and comp are impeccable Andreas. .... but I always expect that from you. BTW - the rocks in the foreground seem to be floating. Amazing work!

@Didl ... this is everything that Mostnica is not :) ... except maybe your little "secret" place which comes near the character of this place just a bit. Each of them has their advantages.

Quite a fascinating place, nice capture. The colors are "different" and the details are great. My first impression was that the upper L & R corners could use a little brightness, but after looking at it for a while decided that they really add to the impression of being underground and make a nice contrast to the light.

Beautiful shot. The human element is well integrated into the composition and I don't find it obtrusive at all.

I cant resist telling you that I really like this with the bridge. The bridge adds a kind of sinister feeling to it, its almost claustrophobic. Perhaps not what you are aiming at but if you wanted a man and nature photograph with a very beautiful dark feel to it, this is it. The lighting is superb. This is a great photograph. I sure have missed coming here, and this photograph is one of the reasons why! kat

Ausgezeichnet, Andreas! Love the golden-metallic walls and overal view - like a way to a secret, majic place. Very appealing photograph.

Wonderfully composed. The water action complements the textures on the walls of the gorge, beautiful and mysterious light coming through.

Wow, that sure is a gorgeous gorge  I love the warmth in the reflected light in the overall cool toned canyon. I can imagine the frustration from wanting to capture the place without bridges..

Well done esp considering the narrow confines. Nice painterly feel.

@Floris ... that's true, but on the other hand, this is what the place is and what it looks like and when people look at the shot they can get a better idea of the location. So overall it's fine.

Congratulations on the WP. I think that the water color compliments the lighting and wall colors well. The details show up clearly. Very nice.
