Panoramic Kaikoura

Taken on the last landscape shoot of my NZ workshop. I'm not generally a great fan of the panoramic format which so often seems to be the domain of a by-the-numbers style of landscape photography. However on a morning where I didn't expect to come back with anything, I'm pretty pleased with the result.

More information on this unique location and the shoot itself on the blog.

Beautiful light and color Kah Kit, but all the action in the water is amazing.

Such great light and color, and as Eva says, a wonderful variety of wave action. Then the addition of the cloud bank along the mountains just tops this off. The large view is a must! :toast:

The combo of the colors, vertical cloud and last light on the rock and spray is great. Nice way to end a trip.

Love all the repeating horizontal lines throughout this one that draw the eye across the pano comp. The cloud and atmosphere adds a ton to the shot, as do the powerful color contrasts, an often overlooked part of landscapes.

The large one must be viewed here! Great color/color variation, nice atmosphere, good exposure, good wave action and I like the MTs in the back ground! :toast: No nits

A pano? Is this a first? Anyway, a very beautiful pano it is. Love the fog, and the orange glow.

Kah Kit, wow this is a fantastic panoramic. The larger verion rocks! Incredibly strong image with a beautiful composition. I definitely think you need to do more pano's.

Stunning work here, Kah Kit.I love how you were able to frame the right hand side of your image with the warm light from the rising sun. Is this a stitched panorama? If so, I am surprised there is no apparent discontinuity of the moving water between different frames. I love this shot!

Kah Kit,

Simply one gorgeous seascape. this needs to be gracing a large wall somewhere - printed very large.

p.s. Not quite sure why panoramics are a "by the numbers" style of photography  what about square? 2:3, 4:5, 6:9.....
