Drake's Beach

I shot this with a Canon 50D, f10, 1/640. It was processed with Silver Efex Pro 2.
This is one of the pristine beaches on Point Reyes, just north of San Francisco. I was initially hoping to capture the amazing cliffs, but after I uploaded it I saw the shapes in the water and sand that looked as compelling. All comments appreciated.

Love the water patterns in the sand leading me into the scene! I might experiment with increasing the contrast, maybe deepen the blacks a bit? Looks like a fine and productive day at the beach.

I like this and I agree with Harley's suggestions. This just might make a great large print.

I really like the comp of this image. I find myself wondering what the colors are like in these hills. Nice mood.

This looks like a beautiful scene, Lucy. I think this would benefit from an increase in contrast. For B&W images to work well you really need a wider range of tones from deep shadows to bright highlights (without clipping either). I think you have some room to work with this a little more either by using a different preset in Silver Efex or by using a curves adjustment layer in Photoshop.

Thanks all for the feedback. I'll play with increasing the contrast. Funny I originally had more contrast. Perhaps a bit brighter might enhance as well. And for Brian, the cliff faces are a kind of mud brown color, the sides greenish, almost avocado. Point Reyes is one of the jewels of the entire California coast—I get there as ofter as I can. Thanks again.
