Pawnee Buttes

I love Colorado's plains, especially in spring when everything is green and wildflowers are blooming. One of my favorite places to visit in recent years has been the Pawnee Buttes, about two hours outside of Denver. Between my visit last year and this year, another wind farm and two natural gas plants have popped up, making landscape photography almost futile. Here, one wind farm can be seen on the left side of the frame. Still, this subtle sunset last night was a pleasure to watch.

Thank you in advance for any comments or critiques.

This is lovely, Sarah. Very serene. I really like that sky. For many years I frequently visited the Pawnee Grasslands, and especially the buttes. The development going on out there is pretty off-putting. Still, it's a peaceful place and I do find myself out there on occasion.

Beautiful Sarah. I love the sky! Interesting to think you could have posted this 'landscape' only a few years ago- and now you have to put it in 'man and nature'...that's sad. The windfarm doesn't really distract from your beautiful composition.

Excellent work Sarah! I like the streaks in the sky and solitary butte. The expanse of the sky completes the story.

I like the vast feeling this image gives me. Well captured light and subject in my opinion.

Great image. I'm crushed to hear about the wind farms and gas plants. Pawnee National Grasslands is such a peaceful, desolate place. I was there in May 2005 and a thunderstorm came through in a hurry. It was a amazing experience sitting out there alone waiting for it to pass. I'll have to dig up some of my archived images from there.
