This perennial was growing in a large clump at our local arboretum, although I have seen it growing out along their trails as well. Camera is a Nikon D7000, Macro 90mm lens at f/4 and on tripod.

I'm trying not to overdo the textures on my images. Textures can enhance some images, but not all. I think this is one that works well.

The image was enhanced with a texture overlay from Shadowhouse Creations called Etched-1.

Your comments are greatly appreciated. Stay safe this Memorial Day holiday.

the texture is not at all overstated and works well with the pastel color scheme. A lovely image. I do wish there was a bit more room at the top.

Nancy, you're right. It would be a better comp with more room at the top. I did not crop the original image so this is what I have. Sometimes when I'm out there photographing, I still don't see something that is obvious. But that's okay, it's all a learning process and will always be one. Thanks Jeremy and Nancy for viewing. I appreciate your comments.

Very nice plant and colors. The texture works very well with this image. I wonder if you could create more room at the top if you added canvas to the original photo and then put the texture over the expanded photo? And then maybe a little cloning to round out the top leaf. I don't know whether or not it would work, it's just something you could try if you wanted to.

For me this looks like the perfect amount of texture. I think the texture really puts this image over the top. I just wish there was a bit more space above the plant. A great use of texturing :toast:

David, I looked at other images I took of this plant and I have one that has more space at the top but I don't like the background. I may try to work on it to see what I can do. This is just a great lesson for me to really look at all edges. And yet I think I do that, but obviously not. The problem I would have if I wanted to frame this print is the lack of the space at the top. I really enjoy macro work, but it's harder than I realize. Even after taken a "Boot Camp" there is so much to think about, of course it also applies to other types of photography as well. It's a learning process every day. And again, this is what I love about this forum. Thanks for your comments.
