First one of the year for me, always a joy to see and photograph these beauties, this is one of the female. The light was harsh which we all know is difficult with kingfishers but had to do the best I could but quite liked how its made the colours pop. Was actually trying to get the dive again but didn t quite get it this time.

Canon 1DMK4, Canon 300f2.8 L, ISO 400, f4.5, 1/3200

The open beak gives the shot some drama, and you have handled the harsh light well.

Karen

A cracking shot and well handled light open mouth adds to the image even more.
