Late Fall in Denali National Park on a foggy but sunlit early morning. This rock juts out from an otherwise rolling slope like it was rammed up from underneath. I suppose it could be that it actually was. A ray of sun lit up the rock and the fog just as we arrived. You can get a sense of scale if you look at the trees on the right side of the rock.

Talk about seeing what you want to see. I first thought this was a coastal shot with a rock sticking up with brown seaweed around it. Nope. Then looked at the larger version and couldn't quite figure it out. Went back and read your description and noted the comment about the trees to the right. Wow, it sure pays to pay attention. That is some piece of granite (or what ever it really is). Lighting is great and the mist adds a sense of mystery to the landscape. Lovely shot. Like it a lot.

I'm with Peter here! I thought this was a much smaller rock. Your comment about the trees showed me something much larger. Its a very interesting study of perception! Beyond that, I love the way the light touches the rock and the mist drifts along behind it. Beautiful scene!
