Barasingha

Barasingha (Swamp Deer), the handsome member of the deer family, was pushed to the brink of extinction few decades ago. Thanks to the conservation effort, their numbers have revived though they are found in very few reserve forests in India. In fact Kanha National Park (India) where I made this image is the only home of the Hard Ground Barasingha.

Thanks for viewing.

A very appealing image, Sandipan. Can't believe there are no more comments yet. The comp is well laid out with the trees in the upper bg providing an anchor for the subjects. Love the rim light on them, and also how the two on the right have turned toward the buck.

Nice image of these deer. I do wish the does were facing the camera. Puzzled over the light, is this as seen or have you changed the color? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sandipan,

I love the poses of the 3 main deer and how you can just make out the rest of the herd in the background. That tree is amazing and adds another dimension to the image. I also like the colour as posted - I would love to know how you achieved it?

Thanks for sharing

Hi Sandipan,

I'm in agreement with the others that this is a very appealing composition and presentation. Quite like the lighting as well.

Well done - thanks for sharing this one...

Thanks everybody for the comments. There was nice warm feel in the scene when I took this shot.
However I used Split Toning method in Lightroom to add a Tint.

Here is another monochrome version:
