Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) – cubs fighting

Nikon D3, 200-400/f4, 1.4extender, WH2 + Gitzo 3530LSV.
Manual exposure mode f8, 1/1000, iso 200.
RAW image processed in Capture One; sharpened in Photoshop CS5; noise reduction using Noiseware Professional; full frame.

The site where I do most of my photography and run my workshops will feature on BBC Springwatch next week. I’ve been shooting video for them since the end of April so you may see some more of these two tearaways. If you are interested you may also see how I get some of my other images too, including my set-ups for woodpeckers, stonechats/whitethroats, turtle dove, cuckoo and the soon-to-be-infamous, dancing badgers.

Nice to see the two tails, fine composition not easy to get with this fast movement I am sure.
Congrats to this wonderful catch Phil,

Great action Phil. Very well caught.

The Springwatch content you mention sounds excellent. I will go and set the recorder now.

Thanks

Top drawer image - large version is a must. Compositionally perfect - I like the way you have included just a smidgeon of the sky. Looking forward to springwatch.
