Here's one from a trip to the Washington coast from earlier this spring. We found some Whimbrel in a nice setting behind the Tokeland marina. Cropped to about 65% of FF.

I really like the bird's eye angle and those pretty little flowers, wonderful setting. The slightly oof foreground really leads my eye up to the sharp focus on the bird. These are really cool birds imho and you have done it justice. :toast:

Really looks like you were laying down on the ground for this one Nate, excellent POV. Composition is great as is the DOF, and you have a superb capture of the Whimbrel, what more could one possibly ask for?!?! :^)

The beautiful setting here transforms the shot, not just another bird sitting on the ground..
A most appealing image Nate - Well done! :toast:

Nate:
I agree with Richard - the setting makes the photo. I don't see Whimbrels that often and almost never in such a nice setting.

Very nice Whimbrel, Nate. Do they breed there or just move through in migration? Good head angle, but for me the flowers make the shot.

Thanks for all your comments!

Jim, these birds are just migrating through on their way north.
