Haga Haga Rocks

This is an image from the South African Wild Coast. The sunrise this morning was not spectacular, but I was able to get some nice "milky ocean" images before the sun rose from the cloud bank on the horizon. This image in B&W just spoke more to me than in colour.

All honest constructive critique highly appreciated!

Techs:
Canon 7D with 10-22mm USM @ 10mm
f8.0 @ ISO-100
Blend of 3 images using Photomatix Fusion and converted manually in Nik Silver Efex

Hi Morkel - I really like the metallic look of the rocks and the misty water. I was not initially drawn to the composition, but have come to like it quite a bit after studying it more closely. The texture in the cliff on the left is interesting, too.

B&W works great here, Morkel. Really brings out the texture and abstract quality in the rocks. Water maybe looks a bit grayish, but it looks like there are some highlights in it that could be dodged brighter.

Very nice, Morkel. The light on the rocks looks great and I like the soft layer of trees in the diistance. Tony has a point with the water and you can try that to check out an alternative, but it works like here as well.

Morkel,

Nicely captured b&w seascape. I think the composition is greatly helped by the line of clouds along the horizon. Without the clouds I think the comp would be tossed out of balance a bit - but it's not! I like the texture and tonality in the rocks. And it makes me wonder if you made any comps just concentrating on the rocks. Some great detail in there and looks like some image potential to me. But this works quite well as captured.

thanks a lot gents...appreciate your feedback!
there's no layer of trees here...all rocks, water and clouds on the horizon

I will see if I can brighten the water some more!

Morkel, the choice of bw works well to bring out the forboding nature of the rocks. Love the mist hovering over them as well. Good comp.
