Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/30 @ f16, Full Frame

I chased this slightly flawed Painted Lady in our garden a few days ago. It was early and she wasn't as active as usual, stopping frequently to warm up. This allowed me to get pretty close and to manage the plane of focus of the wings. Other than the damaged hind wing she was just about perfect. Guess we'll have to settle. All comments welcome. >=))>

You achieved an excellent POF as you say, love the warm colors and great details Bill.
Nicely de-focused BG and the bordering flowers R the icing on the cake.
I've been known to patch small wing defects, but the predator here took a fairly large bite it seems..
Well done! :toast:

The light here is so warm and soft. Perfect for the subject. Nature's tough and I often wonder if we don't do a disservice by only showing perfect images to the public.

The larger version really makes me appreciate the dof and the lovely details on the wings. It's a rough world for butterflies, I guess. I almost never see one in pristine condition. The 'bite mark' adds character.

I don't mind the damaged wing in the least. This is reality - and its beautiful. The gorgeous background looks very fresh, and the purple flowers are a nice touch. Nice shot, Bill.

great colors on the BF and the flowers - too bad about the damaged wing but it always seems like the patient ones are the ones with imperfections.
