Boulder

There is something about this beach that is addictive and hypnotic to me even in the worst of weather. This is an image I took back in October 2007 on a "relatively" clear, calm day. The round boulder in view has been visible rarely. This year of 2007, it was, and then only partially visible last October 2010. Other years, it has been completely buried in the red sand as were the grey, layered rocks on the beach. I love looking for the changes every time I arrive. The first thing I do when I arrive. is run down to beach to see what changes have occurred in the year of my absence.

Inverness Beach, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. October 2007. Please be sure to view the LARGE version 'cause it is like being there.

Canon 20D
Canon 10-22mm at 10mm
ISO100 1/60sec f/11

Thanks for having a look and for any comments and critiques which are always appreciated.

OK, that's it. I'm hooked as well over this fabulous series of images of Inverness Beach. We are going there in a couple of weeks to see for ourselves the many "faces" of the beach. We now live in NS but haven't been there for many years. We have a family event up in Cape Breton and are heading to the beach for a couple of days first. Thanks for your passionate sharing of "your" beach.

I always enjoy the peacefulness in your images, Eva. The subtle treatment allows my eyes to wander and explore slowly and deliberately. The large version is wonderful.

Your shots from here remind a lot of the North Wales coastline Eva and thats why I like them so much.

Cheers, Gary.

Don't know what it is Eva, but you just have a way and a connection with these seascapes that draw the viewer in. On the surface this is a bit static or standard, but I'm finding that lone boulder (nice rule of thirds or the golden rule) just sucks me right in and I can't let go of it. Ok, I let go enough to enjoy the surf, sky and details in the sand and I keep coming back to the boulder. It's a vicious circle and it keeps me engaged!

What they said. At first glance, this is easy to pass of as bland, but there is a lot to enjoy with a longer look. It might be just the slightest bit rotated clockwise?

I really like this image Eve, even on the laptop. Nicely balance light and soft colors. Neat watching changes like this. Sometimes geology seems so slow that it must be fun to watch things change so quickly.

The pattern of the boulders on the left together with the rock formations on the right just draw the viewer toward the surf and that perfectly placed rock. Astounding. And the delicate, soft light, simply beautiful. Eva, have probably said this before but you truly have a gift and vision for this place and it shows with every image of Inverness you post.

Very nice, Eva. I like the color combo of the red sand and blue sky, and the subtle layers of differing cloud. Seems a little flat in the mids, but nice shot all the same.
