Mutant Giardia

D300 18 - 200 @ 200mm ISO 200 F9.5 1/30 sec no flash

An oddity from the flower beds, a mutant giardia. The wide flat objects leading to the flower are actually two stems that merge at the solid cluster of deformed, joined blossoms. I hadn't ever seen one like this in all the years of photographing in these flower beds and thought it was pretty interesting.

This is wild, Bob. Hope you played around with this and got some different compositions - looks like there's some potential there. These inflorescences last a while, so maybe you can still play around with it BTW, this is Gaillardia; Giardia is an intestinal parasite.

Yeesh. Actually, this does look more like Giardia than a Gaillardia  Very interesting.

What a unique floral find. I like the lines curving through the subject. Well seen and captured Bob.

Wow, the colors are amazing and the detail really makes the flower pop. Nicely done.

Very interesting find Bob. I like the composition that your pov and dof creates. I also like the bg and the colors in this - a striking image of a curiosity. (means I like it. (smile))
