Capitol Reef
After House on Fire, Capitol Reef was the next stop on our trip and though we only spent one night here, like every other place we visited, it left quite an impression on us both. The entire area here is just gorgeous and geologically amazing. Just about every type of landscape found in the state of Utah can be found right here in this park. The historical area of Fruita where we camped was so lush and green, and Mel and I were both impressed with how nice and respectful everyone was. No loud party'ers or generators going at all hours...it was really quite peaceful.
The road seen here is the start of the seven mile scenic drive which we had the time to check out and it was amazing with so many different layers of color and formations. We did not end up with a great sunset as the light just sort of died behind a storm, but I did take advantage of this late evening light moving in and out of the clouds with, of course, a pano. The area to the right of this image is nothing but some hills and not very interesting especially with some electrical lines going through. To the left are more mesas which I could have included in a third shot, but there were too many tourists walking about at the time. I hope you like it as I'm rather proud of this attempt and I only had to use two shots without additional blending.

4 commentsWhat a great landscape - it's quite beautiful and captivating even at this very small size. My only nit is that I which there was a larger posted option.
I hope you understand, but I will be moving this to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comments. at first I wasn't exactly sure if this was a road or a river, but your description confirmed.... clearly evidence of the "hand of man." If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators.
