Tempest

Taken on a stormy evening an hour before sunset. Inverness Beach, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia with red sand, a lot of drama in the sky and ferocious winds which almost tossed me off the bluff I was on near my cabin. Even in the cabin that evening, I thought the small cabin itself would for sure be tossed into the sea into the darkness. The relentless siren of the wind and vibration of the cabin while trying to sleep still remains in my memory of this place year after year. Thanks for looking and for your comments and critiques.

Wonderful drama here from the frothy water to the stormy clouds. That's an impressive looking squall.

You must make many trips to the beach Eva. It definitely shows in your work and being there to capture this magnificent storm paid off. You ever wade out for some closer fg?

Nice work

Very dramatic sky in another wonderful seascape, Eva. Some great light in there with those awesome clouds. :toast:

Thanks Tony, Anthony, and Nick. I do revisit this beach every October and have for the past six years mainly for the drama in the skies as well as the Celtic music Festival which happens all over the Island at that time. It is my favorite place and close to my heart. It is a place of solace and contemplation for me. A place I have to go back to.

Very dramatic image, Eva. Obviously the skies are fantastic but I also like how you have captured the tremendous power of the waves crashing into the shore.

I totally love the sky! To be honest, i think you lose some of the sense of the powerful surf due to the perspective/distance here--kind of wish for a wave a bit closer--but then you might have washed out to sea and i certainly wouldnt want that to happen  Nice catch!

Many thanks Brian!

Thanks Stan. I always keep my eye to the skies here. I was cooking dinner and said forget about it..... dinner that is. After all what is more important? I dashed out and took a few images of this, then I ran down to the beach (a 4 minute dash) to try and catch some other images. In those 4 minutes the light changed and the rain came. I posted a few a while back, but still revisit my archives to see what I missed (aka - did not post).

Great sky and I like the drama in the scene. It's good to get out and feel the force of nature every now and then. Nicely done.

Sweet! I am a big fan of light and water and simple minimalism seascapes. This one is very nice. I always love images like this!

I think softening the sharpening on the horizon line and maybe a touch more noise reduction in the lower reddish clouds could benefit the image slightly.

Fascinating contrast between the left and right halves. Looks like two photos in one.

Great sky for your beach scene in this one, Eva. The wide angle gives such a grand scale to it. Beautiful and threatening at the same time.

Wow - that is a powerful-looking cloud. The contrasts between the blue sky, dark cloud, and sunset light add to the feeling of coming storm. Tempest seems like a perfect title. Nice work!
