Golden Sands

A thunderstorm rolled through during the night with enough wind and rain to clear the dunes of any sign of man. The clouds were all but gone by sunrise, but the golden morning light really saturated the orange-red hue of the sands. Two shots blended in PS.

Thanks for stopping by and for your much appreciated comments!

Jean, you have a very unique take on the location especially with that sand texture! Everything is pretty sound here.

I do wish there was a bit more shadow detail in the mitten (sp?). Also a bit more cloud action but i know how that is a rare thing in the SW. All things considered you have a nice and original take/image.

Good contrast between the warm foreground and the Mitten. That said something about the top 1/3 feels a little off in terms of processing.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Mark...I appreciate the feedback. I did bracket and do have a lighter version of the mitten, but as it was still in shadow I would really need to up the contrast quite a bit to get the detail. I'll try working on it and see what I can come up with.

I really like the comp. of this image. It would be nice to have a little more detail in the mitten, but it works very well this way also. Very nice image.

Hi Jean - the texture in the foreground is great and I like the composition overall. I agree with the other comments about more detail and contrast in the mitten, as I think it would enhance this image.

I think the light on the background peaks adds a lot of depth to your shot. And the color and light elsewhere are very complimentary. The texture of the sand is almost palpable. Well done.

Nice comp of a familiar angle on the left Mitten. The dune sure has a lot of nice texture and light..
