Sunbeams over Cook Island, New South Wales.

Taken from Fingal Head, one of my favorite local coastal locations.

D80, 18-200 VR lens at 28mm, f/16, SR 3HS ND + 2 shot blend to help with grad transition.

Many thanks for your c&c.

great light David, nice comp too

the FG a bit flat & needs more contrast even the whole image need to be sharper, did you reduce the size through the PS or other program ??

Hi David. I like the comp. I don't know how the scene really looked, but the sky color just looks a little funky to me - too much red and magenta than what my eye expects for that time of day. More of a golden coloration would complement the warm light on the land, which is just lovely

Nice shot David. I like the comp a lot + I agree with Doug about the magenta in the sky. Should be an easy fix though or maybe this was a deliberate choice?

Hey, I've been accused of moving the 'ol saturation slider six or seven hundred notches too far to the right before, so I can't complain about the color here  I like the framing and foreground processing. Looks like one tough exposure!

The sky colour looks affected by a heavy grad filter. You've done a good job with what looks to be a technically difficult exposure and processing job. I like the beams coming down on the island.

Very dramatic sky and the composition is marvelous. If I use my hand to block the sky, the foreground is perfectly exposed and natural looking. However, the color of the sky just doesn't seem to match. I'm the last one that should give you tips on processing, so I'll leave that to the experts. But if you can get that right, this will be a real stunner.

I like the comp also, and would agree that I would like a color shift for the sky away from quite so pink or magenta, but that's just personal preference really. A very dramatic photo, David!

Thanks for your feedback guys. Yes, the heavy red sky was the product of grad use. I may have in fact stacked two grads to try and tame the dynamic range, but I cannot be certain. I did try in vain to fix it in post but couldn't, so I ran with it the way it was. I have other similar shots from that shoot that don't have the red sky, so I'll work on those and post them up in the future. Cheers!

Nice composition. I also agree with the others about the sky. The colors looks a bit weird to me. A very dramatic and beautiful scene.
