Joshua Tree, Twilight
by Sarah Marino
Thank you for comments on my recent posts. I really appreciate the feedback.
This is another image from my spring trip to Death Valley and the E. Sierra. Here, the last glow of the setting sun shines behind a massive Joshua tree in Death Valley National Park. I am curious if anyone thinks the top part is too dark.

I think the top is too dark ...the tree gets so dark, that it starts to "merge" with the background.... the extreme contrast between the dark at the top and the nice sunset makes you look at the spot of light on the horizon and not the tree. So IMO, I would first lighten the top to draw your eye upwards to the tree itself. I think taking out the bush would help, too, in taking your focus off the bottom of the photo. IMHO, the bush also draws your eye down to the bright spot. I just wish the bush were not in the photo. I think it takes away from the simplicity of this scene.
