This all-yellow iris took a long time to open up - these petals are just emerging from their leaf.

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro lens, 1/8 sec @ f11, natural light indoors.

An exceptional image for my tastes Ian. When I looked at this I immediately thought of water and surf. Then "Venus Rising" popped into my mind. The curve in the lower part of the image reminded me of the shell and then the upper downward curve reminded me of the figure and her crossed arm. For me, this is one of your best images. Beautiful light in it as well.

Very unique capture Ian! Wonderful colors and lighting on the petals as the emerge!
I like how you composed the transparent leaf on a diagonal through the frame.

Pat's water/surf analogy was the first thing I thought of as well particularly with the glare on the FG petal. Well seen!! :toast:

An incredible image. Stunning color and detail. The translucent sheath in the fg is the clincher

I like the layers and the textures here and how the subtle green ones at the bottom help highlight the yellow ones at the top. Nice photo, Ian

Ian:
I really like this abstract. My eyes was immediately drawn to your thumbnail when I opened the gallery this morning. You have captured the very delicate translucent membrane beautifully. :toast:

Ian, I love the opposite curves in the upper part than join in the overlap. Being so beautiful my eyes wish to give more importance to them. What do you think about cutting two fingers in the bottom with a shorter format?
Take care.
