Daylily is a very good flower for abstracts - followed by Dahlias and Tulips (for me). Daylilies come in many types, sizes and colors and infinite possibilities exist for creative compositions.
We have a patch at the local gardens where the lilies face West (and hence the throat and top rear petal from the back face East). I wait for the sun to rise to a point to light the throat and the top petal from the rear to make this kind of abstract. Its narrow 3-4 minute window to get the shot.
ND200, 50mm F/1.8 lens with 36mm of Tubes (a lot easier with just 36mm), F/3.2, 1/50 Sec, ISO200 and handheld.
Thanks a lot for your comments on
Rose Abstract-2 and do let me know what you think of this one (truly hoping that my effort translated into something meaningful and appealing).

This is beautiful. The ray of light seems to originate from the center of the flower and shoot upwards. Amazing how you caught this in 3-4 minutes. It would take me 3-4 millennium to figure out how to compose this

Exactly as shot, Carolyn
Once again, I think this is my favorite so far for the year. "Gorgeous" doesn't really do it justice.
