Golden Silk in the Swamp

I went to Jean Lafitte NP early this morning in hopes of getting some tree frog images, but they didn't cooperate (too lethargic), so I wandered down the Palmetto trail a short distance and ran across this gal near the boardwalk. Fornunately conditions were nearly perfect with good light and no wind. She was close to fully grown, but apparently not yet pregnant. However there was a suitor (tiny by comparison) waiting in the wings. Cropped 4x5 from 4/3rds format. Larger image provided.

Terrific detail in the spider and enough web to put her in context. I wonder what the furry segments on the legs are for.

Excellent detail!
Love her colours, the green BG, and just enough web to add interest.
There is always a maddening breeze here - great for evyone but photographers!
Any luck getting them both together?

Wonderful comp! The detail is amazing and the background creates a nice separation between it and the spider. Nicely done.

Good composition and I like how the silk shows nicely even in the OOF portions. The detail on the spider is wonderful
