Stoat Mum

I was encouraged to put up this image by Andy's terrific eagle picture and also by Philip Kirkham's excellent comments (required reading)on the forum regarding Andy's eagle.

This image is only a quarter of the original image and perhaps lacks the high technical quality that is usually associated with this gallery. However I post it as a record of something that I was priviledged to witness.

I was heading down the farm yard on a little owl mission when I caught a glimpse of movement that turned out to be a stoat moving one of its kittens to a new home. I managed to manouvre my 4x4 into position to hurriedly capture this picture of what turned out to be its final run down the yard. Unfortunately I only had my 300 2.8 with me but fortunately it was fastened to the 1d Mk IV!

Great action grab. The last one I saw do this moved all 6 from under a tin sheet whilst I loaded an ecktachrome. !
They don't hang about.

I think it is the moment that matters, Bob, and this is a great action shot. I do think you could make it pop a bit more though by giving a little more attention to the levels and contrast.

Fine action with the kit in mouth and all 4 feet off the ground!
Agree that it could pop a bit more with a few adjustments.
A very worthwhile image even if not technically perfect!

Great capture Bob. If my recent post has encouraged the posting of images such as this - then I am really pleased. It can only be to the benefit of this forum.
Best wishes
