Wild Rose and rain

I did a lot of work on this one to get to this place. I used a vignette, levels layer to darken the background, dodging to further darken the background, some cloning, and all in an effort to isolate it as much as possible.

5d, 28-135mm w/macro, tripod, diffuser.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Very nice work and presentation. Nice colors and vibrance, and great detail, especially in the center. :toast:

Gorgeous colours and detail in the center. On my monitor, though, the BG blacks randomly fades in and out of dark green, and the upper petal edges are feathered into the black/green.
Could well be my monitor - let me calibrate tomorrow and look again!

All this hard work really pays off. This is a gorgeous image. I especially like what you have done in the center. The dark bg really show this off nicely. :toast:

Intense beauty Morris. I'd look at the slight blending and haloing that Sandy mentions. I think it would be a very minor fix with a clone tool, then I'd have this up on my wall. Otherwise, this is an exceptional image in every respect.

In your face gorgeous rose! The background looks fine when I'm sitting, but if I stand I can see the unevenness of the darkening. The raindrops add a sense of early morning dew. Nice image. :toast:

I like this one a lot. The details are excellent and the translucence of the petals and vibrant colors are great.

A rose of roses, Morris ! The centre just sings, and the variations in light and shade across the petals are enchanting. All your work to get the ground so dark has paid off in full I would say. Very beautiful image !

All your work paid off handsomely. The details in the flower, especially in the stamen are terrific and the black background sets it off nicely.

Fantastic image Morris
Great detail in the center of the image
jus a minor nit that Sandy has already pointed out (haloing around the petals) & that's most tiniest of tiny picks
