Moonrise Paddling
by Wayne Jones
I was in my canoe in the middle of a Adirondack pond when I saw the full moon rising. I knew the moon would be high and bright by the time I got to shore, so I did the best I could from the canoe. I was pleasantly surprised by the sharpness and low noise after shooting 1/15 sec. at ISO 800. I did get a shot with my tripod the next night (no boats in view then) which I am posting today in the Landscape Gallery.
For many shots that include the moon, I have to shoot a short exposure of the moon and superimpose it over the blown-out moon in the main shot, but for this shot, the moon balanced well with the fading sunset behind me, so this is just a single exposure with very little post-processing.
