Cinder Cone Playa

I really liked this place especially because of the large red cinder cone, but it was a last minute stop heading back up to Lone Pine. Didn't quite get what I wanted from the sunset, but was happy with the sunburst and comp in general. Three images manually blended with a black and white layer added for more contrast. A bit different for me artistically, but I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks for having a look.

I know this place Jean, and I like your take on it. Much more intimate than mine. I'm not usually a big fan of sunstars but this one works nicely here.

Thanks, Paul...I really need to go back at sunrise to get the red of that beautiful cinder cone...and I love sunstars.

Jean, you captured the blinding sunlight extremely well for me. perfect exposure and a fine balanced composition to my eye.

As the foreground at the bottom is a bit out of focus, I think that cropping this part might make the image even stronger.

Great image! The sunstar and rock positions are totally spot on.

I trust you weren't just sitting there hoping to catch the rock suddenly moving, a.k.a. the Racetrack in Death Valley?

This has a stark simplicity to it that I like very much. The sunstar is perfect. I am seeing a little softness in the immediate foreground this is somewhat distracting. I might experiment with cropping that out.

Thanks all for the great feedback. You're right about cropping the fg...would make for a more professional image.
