Here is yet another from the Spring. Just two days until I'm back out there! Paul, Floris, and I had a nice time trudging through the rainforest together on this particular day. I had a bit of a difficult time processing this one... What do you think?

Nikon D3, 16mm, polarizer
10 sec @ f/18, ISO 200

Comments and critiques are appreciated as always. Thank you for looking!

The mosses are truly fascinating as is the forest floor, but what I really like is the way the tree radiates into the upper corners of the image. Fantastic image, Alex. :toast:

Yeah, what Ed said. I also like how the 'arms' of the fern seemingly replicate the 'arms' of the tree.
Nice light, and your 'development' looks great to me. This area doesn't look like the easiest place to photograph, but you succeeded well here!

Alex - Processing looks fine to me - I like the cool shadows. Looks like you were about to be pulled in by the tentacles of the tree. Neat shot!

I love the repetition of lines within the composition from the fern and the mossy branches.

Well composed shot! Love how the tree extends to the top of the image. Just lovely.

Definitely works for me! There is just so much going on here in terms of lines, textures and the various shades of green. There is so much green here. I like the emerging sword fern in the lower middle. Nice work overall!

Awesome lines here--both in the tree and echoed by the fern. The color is fantastic as well. I like how the plants contrast with the forest floor and almost appear to be floating. Your processing looks excellent with rich, vibrant color that also looks natural. Great work here!!!

Vortex is the perfect title for this image, Alex. I really like the composition - the radiating limbs are quite interesting. In terms of the processing, I think I might like the overall image to be a bit darker but otherwise think this looks really nice.

This image is all about the composition. It's so strong with the branches reaching out to the corner that the shot just works. Excellent find, especially in a tangled forest like that.

Love your composition, Alex, with the strong lines of the maple branches and the wonderful greens of the oxalis, moss and fern. Whatever difficulties you encountered in processing were certainly overcome as this is superb.
