7d +400mm f5.6
1/2500" F8
Aperture priority
±0EV
ISO 400 Evaluative
Keep trying to improve on my flight shots - why do Terns fly so quickly!!! Took about 500 and had around a dozen reasonable shots. Either a wing out of the frame or not sharp enough!! This was one of the better ones
C & C appreciated

Hi Kim, nice shot. I know what you mean about flight shots! Nice to have the fish included, I think I would have liked a little more room round the bird but personal preference. Well taken! :toast:

Looks ok to me Kim. A bit of detail in the blacks would be nice, and I agree a little more space would be good.
Cheers

Needs some more space to fly in, the crop is too severe at present.

"Capped" terms are difficult to shoot successfully as you easily loose the eye detail, this really needed in-fill flash to add the eye sparkle and it would have helped counter the harsh lighting.

I can't immediately put my finger on the general loss of detail in the image - is this a big crop or over sharpened/noiseware smoothed, it just seems fairly smudgy and lacking crispness to me?

Thanks for the comments, Keith - it took me all my time to get the bird - never mind the catchlight - your turn next.
Mike - no it isn't a big crop - very little - and virtually no sharpening. I did think of extending the canvas - but decided to leave it as it was. Can see where you are coming from insofar as lack of crispness is concerned - it's probably because it was handheld and a bit wobbly too!!!

Hi kim.
Kim it's no good me trying for a catchlight or even a flying bird as you know i have difficulty getting them sharp on a perch
Cheers Keith.
