Whitethroat

Common Whitethroat (Sylvia communis) - Essex, UK

Canon 7D, 600/f4, Gitzo 3530LSV, Wimberley WH2.
Manual exposure mode f11 ;1/250, iso 160.
RAW image processed in Capture One; sharpened in Photoshop CS5; noise reduction using Noiseware Professional Imagenomic; full frame.

After the continuous raucous clammering that has been going on almost continuously from dawn to dusk over the last two months, it has now become eerily silent: the whitethroats have stopped singing. One pair at least must be raising a second brood as they are still carrying food, but the males have all gone quiet over the last week.

Crisply done. The perch, the detail, and the BG all A+. A bit cramped in the frame, but that is more a matter of taste.

Maybe a little tight in the frame but everything else looks good to me - very very nice.

A bit tight in the frame for my taste as well. I would prefer it smaller and more to the right, but fundamently a lovely portrait. They were still clammering away in my part of the world as recently as Monday, but they are rapidly falling silent now.

Tight in frame? Am I seeing a different image to everyone else
This looks about perfect to me, Phil :toast: The graduated background tops off a stunning shot.

Love the graduated background, really compliments the bird well. Perhaps a little more space top and left but marginal!! Super :toast:

The bird is spot on Phil and the backdrop superb. This highlights the problem with going for full frame. The image in my humble opinion is crying out for there to be more space to the left for the bird to look into. You can't do it without adding canvas. Easy enough with that background but much easier to rack outa tad when shooting. ( Sorry - not a zoom I presume )

The bigger in the frame the better for me. A very nice BOAB.

Yes- big in frame is fine in some cases but there are still rules of comp. and position. _ Unless you lay on one side all day
