Just did my very first storm chase this July. I went with college of Dupage, who is the first college that storm chased. It was an amazing and addicting experience. In 10 days, we traversed close to 6k miles and zigzagged 6 US states of the northern plain and Alberta Canada. This particular photo was taken central North Dakota.

Settings: Nikon D7000, 1/125, ISO 640, Tokina 11-16, f/5.6

C&C are welcome and appreciated.

Jim

Jim, John's straw bale reminds me of Kansas, but not near so much as this photo. IMHO you have done a great job in capturing this scene. I like the light on the fence in the foreground. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome sky - really captures the "Forboding storm" mood.
Sounds like a great adventure!

Great shot Jim. The storm cloud dropping down adds a touch of drama to the rain in the background. I agree with Jon regarding the fence and grass in sunlight in the foreground. Great touch.

Crazy cloud formation, Jim. I like the internal luminance (lightning?). I'm sure it was a lot of fun and very exhilirating.

Wonderful. Great dramatic clouds building up.
Think I need to go and follow that college as well.
Thx

Ive been chasing since '98--i was hooked after my first chase when we got pounded by baseball size hail  I ran my own tours for a while but this year went solo--had a mostly disappointing season, but i did catch a decent tornado in NE.
Great shot--love the drama and vignetting here! :wavey:
