Here's another from a month or so ago, a Northern Mockingbird. The perch is a natural dead snag where I had set up some water and fruit nearby to attract birds.

Canon 7D, 500mm + 1.4x TC, tripod, camo cloth

1/640, f/8, ISO 320

Crop to 71% (12.8 of 18MP)

Really nice pose and perch, and bright eye. A bit of head-turn would be nice, but he/she didn't agree! .
The golden light is interesting - if this is natural and not yellow over-sat, it's turned the gray bird a golden colour.
Nice detail too!

thanks Sandy, this was early morning light, about an hour from sunrise--in ACR I set the white balance at 5500 "daylight" and it is, I think, an accurate rendition.

I really like the morning light on the bird. The perch and background complete a very nice shot.
