Lichen Trail + Repost

Lichen on the rocks on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia, Maine. The pattern they formed caught my eye and reminded me of trail or path. Stopped here on our road trip to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia last October on a cold, blustery, cloudy day.

Thanks for having a look. Always appreciate your comments and critiques.

Nice abstract Eva, I really like all the lines and interesting textures in this. I would consider cropping from the right to remove that patch of grass in the upper corner to simplify the composition a little more.

Well observed Eva.
Id go with Zacks suggestion but Id suggest a quite a bit off the left side I don't believe you need all of
that relatively uninteresting area.

Cool! It's tough to make a lichen abstract look original but i think you succeeded here--the textures are awesome! Yeah, lose the grass.

The crop suggestions simplfy this lichen abstract and I mean that in a good way, Eva. That also gives you a nice diagonal between the two different colors on the granite.

Well I don't know.... the grass in the upper right echoes the pattern. Not sure the crop works for me but here it is.

This is a very nice abstract Eva. I especially like the repost as it did simplify the comp and form as Zack thought it might. I like the colors, shapes and the amazing texture! Nice work!

Like this one Eva. A really nice pattern of lichen. I often have a go at these but rarely come across one that has lasting appeal I think this one just might. I like the reposted version below best.

Eva, especially the repost works very well for me. I appreciate the plainness of your composition. The play with colors and shapes really keeps my attention. To my eye also the delightful details of the textures add a lot.

Seems a little flat, but the patterns, lines, and color variations are fascinating.

I prefer the crop. I would have to say this isn't a total success for me - the layer of brown on the right isn't the most appealing. The processing is a little flat that doesn't help either - midtones need some punch for this to make more of an impression.
