Dark-Eyed Junco & Repost

I was going through some images from earlier this year for a project and ran across this one. I liked the curve of the perch and the interesting textures in it as well as the bg. I'm debating the two rain streaks on the far right.

1DMkIV, 500mm ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on Gitzo legs, f8, 1/400, iso 1000, Av mode with no compensation, normal processing in CS4, cropped to 5.4 MP. Taken at 9:27 am on April 24th, 2011.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I really like this Dennis.
I like the perch and the various colored mosses on it, the Junco is a real beauty complimented very nicely by the background colors. As for as the rain drops are concerned, I don't think they really add anything to make the image better.

Great shot Dennis, very good quality shot, but the most what I like is the perch, it has a great curve and nice colorful herbs on it, that's what I really miss here in middle west,,,, so dry even around the rivers...Anyway another sweet shot, thank you for sharing!!! :wavey:

A real classic pose and composition. The background color suits the pink colors in the Junco. I might clone out the raindrops, they are slightly erratic. Top notch Junco photo!

Yes, I really like this perch, too, and the colors here are just beautiful.

Nice job on the bird, Dennis. And the perch is real interesting, lots of texture and color. Can't get more natural than this.

Nice one Dennis
being picky- a little more room on the right might help if its not full frame , but no big deal.

Super Cool Junco Photo Dennis  I really like the rain drops on his head, but perhaps not the streaks so much.

Gorgeous. You tell it's a great photo when it takes a common subject, and makes it look absolutely beautiful. I really love that background. :toast:

Hi All:

Here's a repost with the rain streaks removed and a bit of extra noise reduction on the bg. :wavey:

super perch and comp, Dennis. love the bg and the rain on the bird. I'm indifferent on the rainstreaks but am a little distracted by the drop (?) that is on the right side of the perch where the two little bits of wood stick out--I'd be tempted to eliminate that.

Like this a lot! Nice perch, great pose, and good detail/colours.
Suggestions: the OOF stuff behind the perch could go. So could the white glob and 2 streaks. hey don't add a thing.
The tail could use a bit of additional sharpening - then - from "really nice" to VERY nice" !
Good work!

I was going to say leave the rain streaks, but seeing your repost...it's better without. An awesome image. Gorgeous bg and perch. Sharon
