Little Blue Heron

Seems like I got more good photos in a week in FL in March than I have all summer, so I'm going into the files for this one. A Little Blue Heron in very early light (about 30 minutes from sunrise) at Tigertail Beach, Marco Island, FL. (EDIT to clarify, this was 30 minutes after sunrise, not before, hence the warm light.)

I appreciate your critiques and comments. Please view the larger version if possible.

Canon 7D, 500mm + 1.4x TC, monopod

f/7.1, 1/1000, ISO 640

Full Frame, no crop.

Brian 30 minutes before sunrise certainly brings great results as this super image shows.

Nice job Brian, you have some really wonderful light with this one. The detail all looks great in the large version, and I like the pose, as if he's about to strike.

Wonderful full frame image, seems like ideal light to photograph in (not to harsh or not to dark). I like the lower angle, the feather detail, partial reflection and water drop on the bill, well done Brian.

Light is perfect. Love the detail, including the water drop. This really shows how these birds concentrate, while fishing. Pov is right on, too.

Nice image. I find this a difficult bird to get good detail in the feathers and they are well shown here. I like the water droplet at the tip of the beak. I would do a bit of noise reduction on the background that is visible in the larger image.

That light sure brings out the details in a nice way, Brian. I like the swirling water ripples too. The reflection is blurred enough that it being partial does not offer a distraction here. Lovely shot.
