Full Title: Liquid Light - Adirondack Rain

First post in ESS in a long time for me. I finally got to pay an long overdue visit to the Dacks last week and pulled off some photo work while there. Both the kids have finished college now and I should finally have some time to get out into the woods more! Yay!

I happened to spot this wonderful, soft dripping wet light during a rainy day and stopped what I was doing to grab this one. I find it oddly relaxing.

Thoughts?

I like the colors, composition, and processing Jim. The motion blur from the branches on the right is a bit of a buzz kill. This is impressive though....

It is relaxing, Jim The mist through the hardwood is soothing. Nice to see you posting images.

Really like the design of the tree against the misty background. The blurry branches on the right hand side detract from calm invoked by your image, though, in my opinion, and from the graphic appeal of the tree's design. Really like the multitude of raindrops on the tree branches.

Jim,

Great to see a post from you here! This is wonderful - moody with great atmosphere. I'm not sure if I can explain it, but the tonality and color along with the mood give this a sense of place - like this is some medieval forest or something - Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. etc. This is excellent.

I didn't notice the fuzzy branches until reading comment. Sure, better without, but this is still very strong with great impact. Well done sir.

The luminosity of this scene is wonderful Jim. Liquid light is definitely a very appropriate and descriptive title. Beautiful work!

Lon - thanks! It good to come back for a visit now and again! I still peruse from time to time and I responded to a forum post on ESS moderating just yesterday (?) and remembered I had some new shots waiting to be processed. Ha!

The light was truly irresistable here and I had to take the shot. The fuzzy branches in the UR aren't motion blur, they are a closer branch that I couldn't get around without cutting them down - which I'm told is bad form!

I would prefer the comp without that branch, but as Mr. Vonnegut would say - 'So it goes.'

Lovely comp and light. Even the intruding OOF branches seem to work here with the strongly graphic tree trunk and branches.

This has a very cenematic feel to it. You've done a great job capturing the essense of the forest in the rain. Though the branches in the upper right would be considered a distraction by most, I think they are partially what adds to the cinematic feel.

Really incredible feeling this image conveys. The colors give a wonderful mood and the contrast is perfect with just enough detail in the dark areas. The oof branch does take away from it a bit.

That's a magic shot, Jim! I love the soft, out of focus green foliage that creates a beautiful dreamy feeling. The atmosphere and mood is beautiful. You've captured some wonderful light and color. I don't mind the closer oof branch on the right, but I like that sort of thing. Lovely shot.

Very nice, but the out of focus brances on the right side are a minus. Otherwise, superb light and wonderful composition.

Nice atmosphere you've captured here, Jim. It's to bad about the blurry branches but it's still a very good forest scene.
