Lark Sparrow

A Lark Sparrow at Cedar Canyon. The light is a little harsh and the bird is back light. It is as close as I have been able to get to most of the birds of the prairie. All comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Great job getting this species off the ground. Love the perch. Light is harsh as mentioned. I feel you dont need as much negitive space on the right.

Kind of unusual light with the light falling on his backside, but you've done a ncie job with the exposure to make the face/front clearly visible. Really cool perch.

Very nice. I love the perch and the little tip of his head. You handled the harsh light very well and captured a very appealling image

Richard,

Great shot! I really like the monochromatic tones you have here. The light you have illuminating the Lark Sparrow I don't find that harsh--in fact, I find it useful in keeping my eye moving throughout the image. Well Done!

Really neat perch Richard. I like the birds feet on two separate pods and the similar colors throughout.

That is a great job on this image, especially considering the not so perfect lighting you had to work with. The perch and OOF BG works really nicely. :toast: :toast: :toast:

I like the lighting in this image Richard. I also, like the perch and BG. Not long ago I had a conversation with some bird photographer friends about the merits of subtle colors and the difficulty in capturing them well. This image is a good example of a well executed image with a subtle color palate. Well done.

Well the bonus of using a slightly shorter focal length is that you get to incorporate some great vegetation and surroundings, as here. Nice head turn and background. :toast:
