Sand and Foam

Sand and foam on Inverness Beach, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia during a stormy sunset. The sea and wind were churning up large chunks of foam which I know some people won't find very appealing (not to mention any names). Anyway, thanks for looking and as always, your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Chock full of drama! I like the conversion and comp and the "Godbeams" are a great addition. :toast:

I like this in the b/w Eva. A dramatic sunset for sure. The sky is awesome and love those sunbeams! I usually don't like the foam but it doesn't really bother me here at all. Just part of the scene and looks quite natural.

I like this black & white version. You did a good job here. Looks very dramatic. The beams are amazing. Well done

In a word, dynamic and beautiful (well, make that two words  ). This is really lovely, even with the blown highlights in a couple of areas. This also works SO well in B&W. I hope you also captured some pebble and foam intimates too! really nice catch.

Great shot. The frame has a lot to look, even without color.

Some nice drama in the sky but the comp is a little busy and not as engaging as most of your images.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Paul - Thanks for your input. This beach is a very difficult place weather wise which makes it very attractive to me. Not only is the the sky in a crazy place, but also the beach and water motion most of the times I have visited here for the past five years. It is addicting in a way (to me anyway). Without that turmoil, chaos, and drama, it could / would be just a beach on the Jersey shore close to where I grew up although I am sure there was some excitement with the hurricane blowing through this past weekend. Don't think I have ever seen sea foam in NJ though due to wind and sea conditions or mid coast Maine for that matter. The sound of the wind that creates these conditions is a sound forever etched in my memory.

You've captured the essence of Cape Breton Eva. A place of extremes.

That is interesting, Eva. It makes makes concentrate on where the water ends and the clouds begin. The strong contrasts here make for a lot of drama.

Eva,

Dramatic and moody! The presence of the sea foam doesn't bother me in general, although compositionally, I might consider cloning or doing something with the foam in the LLC; not a big issue though. Otherwise, love the high contrast here and how the sun's rays really light up the ocean and waves. This is just great.

A very nice b&w, Eva. Great job controlling the high contrast. The light beams are wonderful and I like your low pov. The position of the waves is also very nice. I don't mind the foam... blends in well being a b&w image.
