Chinaberry Abstract

by Bill Chambers

Gallery: LandscapePosted August 30, 2011451 views34 comments
This is an image of three chinaberry saplings that were growing basically as one. I liked the design of the bark, and since it didn't have a lot of color in it, I decided to convert to B&W.

Large version available (but suffering from compression; saved at 4)

D2x w/ 70-200 VR @ 125mm
.3 sec @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
No filters
Tripod
Capture One 6, CS4, TK's actions, Silver Efex Pro

Your thoughts and critiques are always appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Absolutely dizzying! How fantastic is this? The conversion is a perfect choice for these lines and tones. Needs to be in a gallery somewhere, Bill! :toast:

Personally I could shoot trees/tree bark abstracts all day, I love getting lost in their detail and patterns. Lovely conversion and well seen here Bill :toast:

Bill,

This is downright mesmerizing! When I read the "abstract" in your title, man, you weren't kidding! This is simply outstanding. Yikes.

The only criticism or nit, would be the softness in the LLC, but that's very minor and certainly not an image killer. This is awesome.

This is a great abstract, Bill! It makes eyes go all wonky--that's a good thing! B&W works perfectly for this.

Hi Bill that is an absolute cracker. Love it. A wonderful frame filling abstract and the square presentation suits it too.

You found a great section of tree bark here Bill, I'd imagine this was quite difficult to shoot. Great job.

This is so cool! It could be any number of things, but I'm glad they are trees. The curves are nice here and the conversion is perfect.

This is wonderful, Bill. I was just looking at the gallery page and thinking about the high ratio of original and intimate landscape work here, making it perhaps the best forum of its kind I know of. This image instantly caught my eye.
