Columbia Spring

This is another image from my backpacking trip into the Heart Lake Basin of Yellowstone National Park. This is Columbia Spring which is one of the jewels of the Rustic Geyser Basin near Heart Lake. My wife and I really enjoyed exploring this geyser basin (no other people, no boardwalks, just beautiful scenery). I went with the pano crop to emphasize the beautiful colors in the pool. The water here looks refreshing, but looks can be deceiving, since the water temp is 189 degrees F.

Well done. Pleasing color and a good choice of panorama, emphasizing the subject and surrounds.

That water does look refreshing Scott. I like your pano crop and the deep blue sky is gorgeous. It must have been nice having the place to yourselves.

Gary.

The pano crop works nicely here and there's some great detail in the large version. Very nice scene and I really like the strong blues.

Very pretty scene, with a myriad of color variations around the pool. You're right, it does look refreshing, kind of like our freshwater springs here in Florida, but they're a more comfortable 70-72 degrees!

It looks very refreshing. But at that temperature, who needs a camping stove? Use the spring. The pano works well here.

I'll join the others in praise of the colors and the choice to crop this way. Colors saturated just right and great detail. Nicely done.

I think the pano really gives a great sense of scale and I imagine a huge print would make one feel just like standing there and taking it all in. Wonderful color as well. Very well done.

No boardwalks and no people, how nice to have it all to your self. Beautiful color in the spring.

Scott,

Beautiful! Excellent job with the crop as you've showcased this pool beautifully. The colors are wonderful and I'm really enjoying this image. Initially, one might think the whites are maxed out, but I really think the stark contrast created with the whites and the other colors really captures this environment perfectly. Well done.
