Bursting at the Seam

A bursting mud bubble in the Fountain Paint Pots area of Yellowstone National Park. These were really cool to sit back and watch and very difficult to capture even in burst mode. This was my favorite of several hundred images from this spot. I liked the dynamic shape of the bursting bubble. There are lots of hidden abstract shapes in here. I see a bird or a porpoise at the top of the bursting bubble and my wife sees a heart.

Nikon D7000, Nikkor 80-400mm at 400mm
1/1250 sec at f/8, ISO 200. Converted to b/w in CS5. There really wasn't much color here anyway.

Very interesting, Scott. Kind of like a contemporary abstract sculpture.

Really nice shapes and I like the shadows the mud throws. Reminds me of spilled milk.
