Pampas Fox

Here's another shot of a Pampas Fox from our recently completed Argentina tour. There was a pair together at last light and as the light faded from the foreground it still lit up the background trees making for what I thought was nice bg. I focused on one of the foxes as it got up to scratch and stretch. Full frame.

The background is very nice... such a lovely setting. The orange and green really compliment each other.

This is class. All beautiful blurred color and one sharp, smiling fox. I love this image.

Nate, I agree about the nice background. I like the scratching pose you captured, and the fact that the scratching leg shows motion, if the leg was sharp frozen in this position I think it would have been more of a humor shot. I'm not real crazy about the OOF foreground over the lower part of the fox due to the low angle of view and I can't help but wonder if you wanted that effect or not. Very nice image as is though.

Thanks for your comments guys! Gary I agree that it would be nice to see the paws and low parts of the fox but to get the out of focus trees in the background I had to get low so that was the trade off here - when I had the tripod at just a low level the background was the ground.

The background is beautiful and really isolates the fox well. The background colour is atypical and I think that makes the image more unique. I really like this.

Lovely colors and the scratching behavior is attention grabbing. The fox definitely looks like it is smiling. The image has your characteristic high IQ.

Nate, I like the subtle way the lightest areas in the background create diagonal bands leading the eye back to the fox.

Those trees in the BG are so cool! Lovely play of light, Nate. I love the low angle but was wondering if raising your POV ever-so-slightly would have reduced the effect of the OOF FG grass...then read your reply. In my mind the trees would have won the day too, so well done for sticking by your vision... :toast:

These guys are so cool looking, I really like that face. The foreground and background color seem to compliment each other. Nice work not under-exposing the fox. Another Sweet Fox Photo Nate

That is some BG and the pose is awesome too! I might have wanted a hair more FG (not much for me  ) but this is a winner for sure!

Interesting fox pose with a wonderful background color. With both the OOF foreground and background this kind of gives the image a abstract quality to it. Must of been a cool experience to see these, way to go.

I think this is a wonderful image as posted, Nate. The OOF foreground serves to give it some realism and depth. The pose and evident motion of the rear leg, the expression on the face of the fox and, of course, the lovely bg, all combine to make an exceptionally attractive image.
