Had an opportunity to see an elk herd on a recent trip to RMNP. This was one of my favorite shots. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Nicely detailed shot Walt. The color of the elk looks pretty good too. The light and angle gave you some pretty dark shadows that you may be able to lighten a bit to see if there's some detail hidden in there. If mine, I'd also lighten up the dark spot in the BG to minimize its contrast with the surroundings.

Nice close portrait. I do find the dark area to her front a bit distracting. Is there anyway you could turn this into a vertial comp and eliminate the dark area? Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I see what you mean by the dark area. That was another elk in the background. i will try to clone it a little as I do not want to lose too much of the leading area in front of her. Thanks for the input.

The cow looks fine, but my eye keeps trying to decipher the dark spot on the bottom right. I think one thing that would have made the up close portrait nicer would have been a view of her with a more open eye. You might experiment as see how you like it in vertical format, too.
