Least Tern

Another Least Tern chick from last month. The only things I don't like are the blurred foot and the piece of phrag that looks like it's impaling this little bird. Oh well, can't win them all.

Nikon D300s 300 f4 + 1.7X TC HH from kayak
f/6.7
1/1600s
ISO 640

Full Frame, levels adjustment and sharpening in CS5 on 27" iMac

Nice light and exposure with a very nice raised foot. I like how the soft beige tones are just coming into the feathering. Sharon

Luke this is great I like the movement and as for the stick in the bg maybe a bit more selective blurring to give it less clarity

Wonderfully sharp, Luke, and I love that it's walking.

Love the pose and the angle.....I don't mind the blur on the foot.....implies motion. Good self assesment on the BG.....a blur that Avi suggested may do the trick!

Nicely done Luke. Love the eye, the intensity of this little chick is really showing. Great work, and from a kayak.

Nice work on this one Luke. Looks like he was trying to make an escape! I don't mind the blurred for and nice job pulling him from the busy BG.

This works for me as posted - I have no issue with the blurred foot or the BG "spear."

A really nice shot of this little tern Luke. I do not mind the BG at all and the foot is fine too. Nice to see a young least tern.

Definitely a young bird with a mission. You've noted the nits already. Apartment from them, this is a very good photo of the youngster.
