A nice image of the deer. I think, unless there was an external reason, I would have gone for a landscape frame. The colors and contrast seem flat to me. Technically, this is a solid image with just the right amount of DOF.

I think the light is excellent and while I like the vert presentation I can also see a landscape version too.

A very pleasing image Verdon. I like the fact that the FG and the far BG are darker, which really makes the subject stand out. Very nice body pose and the catch-light is a big plus. I understand the call for a landscape presentation, considering the visible part of the subjects body being horizontally directed, but this vertical presentation works very well IMO.

Verdon, I like the colors and soft light on this a lot. If it were mine, I would consider cropping off just the darkest part of the top. Colors and contrast look real nice on my monitor.

Thank you guys for you comments, this is shot from the Barr Lake (CO), I was standing on the wall of the lake and the deer is down in wet land, it was pretty close for my 600 (btw took the shot from hand) and I had to move back to get at least shot like that....
The dark part at the the bottom of frame is shadow from the cotton tree, I didn't want to crop from the frame because as always I am keeping room for legs even if they are not visible, thank you for your comment again, keep shooting!!!

A fine specimen here! Vertical or horizontal both have their virtue I think. I would like to see just a bit more room in front of the deer for this vertical though, just feels a bit constricted. The lighter band at the top of this one might make me go for a horizontal personally.

Wonderful light to display the buck. I like seeing all the velvet on the antlers and the look from the buck. The vertical presentation works for me, well done.
